The catalogue below lists, in alphabetical order, a collection of world bores for which we have found evidence. A large amount of literature exists for some of the major bores, while for others information is lacking, and evidence rests purely on observation. It is possible that some of the bores may be misidentified, but all the rivers catalogued are located in regions of large tide ranges, where a bore might be expected. The encroaching tide is classified as a tidal bore if it produces a discernible head wave within a river. We hope to expand the catalogue as more information comes to light, and if you have any comments or knowledge of any of the rivers in the catalogue, or another river we have not recognised, then please complete the contributions form. |
